What fruit is this?

I've been meaning to do this post sooner but I kept forgetting it. Anyway, anyone knows what is the name of this fruit? My in-law bought the tree from Tenom and planted it at their orchard years back. Now it bore fruits... sweet fruits. My FIL (Father in law) was told by the folks who sold him the tree earlier that the fruit was called "Love You" since they said its sweet like love. But I believe it's just what local called them since I googled "Love You" fruit and I ended up with no result (or did I do it in a wrong way *sigh*).

Bits about the fruit, you actually cut them two and scoop the flesh out with the spoon. Best eaten if you refridgerate it before hand in the fridge (great to be eaten on a hot sunny day). I somehow keep thinking IF its persimmon... but the persimmon I saw in google image result look more orange in colour (the shape is almost the same though).

I don't have more of this fruit so I can't retake the photo.
The spoon next to the fruit is a regular table spoon (*sigh*- I really need to brush up some jargon here). Hope that'll help you to help me identifying this fruit.

By the way, Tenom is known for having non-local/non-everyday fruits/ agriculture products. My mom told me that when she's young, my great aunts used to plant strawberries, asparagus etc but stop doing so since it doesn't market well.

Now, back to help me with the fruit ^^.

thanks in advance

RECENT UPDATES

After reading the comments and made some searching, I'm guessing that it could possibly be a loquat, since the fruit's skin is very easily bruised indeed and it's all sweet (but I could still be wrong), while a quince is a hard-apple-like fruit (which its not).
Anyway, I'll probably going to check the tree myself later in June (if time permit) and compare it to my findings..

(I'm becoming a tree hunter... LOL)
