My School Holiday
It's the school holiday where children look forward to sleep late (till midnight or break dawn for some) and not worry to sleep until afternoon. Well, at least that is what some children do nowadays. I (and my siblings) however can't really do that during our time. And as much as I can recalled it, school holidays are just like any other days (minus going to school).
While other kids had FUN and had itall almost their way; mandi sungai, main bubut-bubut, main masak-masak... we had it our way (thanks to dear daddy *smile*). However, I doubt that any of the children now will look forward to our ways of having the holiday *wink*. Well, at least that what my cousins' response when their mother (my aunt) brought up our siblings way of having our holidays^^. Now, how we did it?
While other kids had FUN and had it
- Enjoyed family time traveling (that's including balik kampung and outdoor activities e.g. picnic, swimming...).... only going back home then to be expected to write a full report/ composition (as how we called it) about the journey, our experiences...etc, along with drawings about things that happened.
- Had a list of "tajuk-tajuk karangan" prepared by dad to be completed within the holiday time e.g. my house, my family etc.
- When children nowadays
committing fullyenjoying themselves with PS2/ PS3... my dad bought us Nitendo (do they still exist??) ... only to be allowed playing strategic fun critical games SOMETIME and Donkey Kong (A mathematic solving problems games). Oh yeah... happy hour^^.
- 6.00 pm means to switch off the TV or hand the remote control to daddy (whichever applicable) and went to the kitchen to help with the dinner (regardless the age unless you're 6 years or younger).
By the way, if you think I made this all up, it's not. Yeah... we even brought our paperwork 'homework' balik kampung (my aunt sure remembers that one till now). Ironically, I don't felt being tortured and rather sometimes I found it fun since dad and mom later helped us/me with the drawing and the water paint colouring. Not sure if my youngest siblings remember these though. But I bet they can't forget the endless compositions and Donkey Kong!!!
Anyway... dad don't stay that way^^ when we're all finished high school and went our ways. Will I do the same thing with my children in the future. Hmm.. time will tell^^.
